FBFF- What inspires you

This weeks topic is what inspires us. Well gee- I don't think I ever write that stuff down, I just let it affect me. So I will do my best to pin some down. Here are my top 5.

1. Nature

Ok, so I like trees. Well it's really a wood thing I suppose. Every piece is different and there are unlimited things you can do with it, but it will always break back down to a really natural organic thing.   I am also a huge fan of earth tones and trees cover pretty much all of them.

 2. Folk Music- Beirut

Their sound reminds me of a foreign place I visited in a dream. Always a bit fantastical, and pretty easy to play on the uke.

3. Early Century Street Style

Ok OK, I know its a picture of the Newsies, but this is the clearest photo representation I could find. The flat caps, suspenders, henley's and button downs. They are all wearing the same thing, and yet each has their own look. Love it!

4. Typewriter fonts

Perfectly imperfect.
That's my thing, and that's what typewriters do.

5. Wes Anderson

Besides having an incredible sense of person style, he seamlessly makes the same connections in all of his movies. From the artwork and fonts, to the costumes and sets. Every element is thought out and nit picked to perfection, and it shows. I love things that flow from one to the next to the next. I never see hiccups in his work. Makes me want to strive for the same.

Hope you enjoy the top 5 things that inspire me. Don't forget to check out other blogger inspiration over at Mommy Posh.

Help me pick a Camera!

Dear readers, passerby-ers, and all others who point and shoot.
I am taking the plunge and investing in an actual camera, AND I NEED YOUR HELP!
I've been doing a bit of research, but sometimes it's better to hear from the horses mouth.

Do you own a camera?
What kind?
Do you have a link to photos you've taken with it?
What made you choose this specific one?

Right now I am pretty in love with Canon and am pretty sure I want a DSLR. But I'm open to other suggestions! Some people have told me to get a mid priced one and up grade in the future, and others have said go big or go home. What do you think?

Let the recommending begin!

Brighten Up

This will be a super quick post cause I am pooped.
So in keeping with the theme of the week, color, I brought out this dress that I recently found on Etsy. Its a beautiful vintage dress with pearl buttons and lace details. Its super simple to wear and stands up on its own, so a lot of styling is not necessary.

Colors

It's not that I don't like color- I just really like certain colors and kinda forget about the others. So this week I will "attempt" to add more color to my wardrobe. This might be difficult.

This weekend was one of the busiest I've had in a while. I went to the Modern Vintage Chicago show with Piper of Cheap and Chic in Chicago, you can see what I wore on their Facebook page. Pretty neat! I was voted one of their best dressed shoppers and won free tickets to their event in November. I have to add that it feels a bit weird, considering almost every person I saw there I wanted to trade outfits with! I also finally watched the Shining, which turned out to be longer then scarier, saw two lovely plays, had drinks with friends, played a kickball game and saw one ego boosting football game.  It's good to be busy again.

Black & Tan

Just wanted to make a quick post before the game. A football game. I normally don't watch football, but I am tonight- and rather excited about it. Anyways, I was reading The Clothes Horse earlier today and saw her video on the new Family Affairs collection. Something that caught my eye was their use of black & tan. I normally stay away from it because I am more of a "brown" girl then black. Well not anymore I suppose. I am really digging the combination. Maybe watching the Saints play the last few weeks has made this combination feel a little more friendly and familiar. Who knows, this could possibly turn into a winter staple. Here are a few combination I found that I really like. Enjoy your Sunday- and Go Saints!!!

Happy Fall!

The leaves are in full orange mode and the temperature is slowly dropping.
Yesterday I had breakfast with Jon and then we decided to explore the area. We came across an awesome used book store, I'm talking $25 books for $4.50 and a really creepy antique mall.

The fallowing are various photos from the antique mall. ***Warning*** now that I look back at them, I mostly took photos of creepy taxidermy animals. They were laying everywhere!

AFLECK!

Ninja Turtle??

This is the creepies "Mannequin" I have ever seen. Looks like something from Silence of the Lambs.

I finally go Jon to take some outside outfit shots. Its been forever since I posted an outfit and I don't really think I've done that many outside shoots. YAY leaves!
